Downtown Disney

Downtown DisneyOn the rare occasion that you actually find yourself with some free time during the NAR Conference, I’d highly recommend you spend it in Downtown Disney. First of all it’s free! Second, you are bound to run into a lot of NAR Conference attendees (I ran into about a dozen last night and the conference hasn’t even started!). And third, it’s FUN!!!

Here are some of the great reasons you should spend some time “Downtown” at Disney:

Great food – There are many restaurants to choose from, ranging from House of Blues, Catal, Naples, Jazz Kitchen and many, many more! If you are still craving those amazing beignets from last years Nardigras in New Orleans, then stop by the Jazz Kitchen Express and grab yourself a plate of those delectable delights!

World of DisneyShopping – They have got plenty of this! Shops range from Disney specific to Lego to high end couture! I am a big fan of the World of Disney. This place is like a museum paying homage to the marketing machine that is Disney. This store has practically everything that Disney sells inside of the parks. It’s a lot of fun to walk through. I dare you to get through it without buying something! Also, peek in and take a look at Quicksilver’s very cool ceiling!

Live Entertainment – In addition to many of the restaurants offering entertainment, such as Jazz Kitchen and House of Blues, you will also find street performances taking place throughout Downtown Disney. We counted 4 or 5 last night. We were really impressed with the acoustical guitar duo and then there’s the guy with his amazing wall of drums! All are sure to entertain you!

So if you find yourself with some time on your hands, go hit Downtown Disney. You can grab shuttle bus #2 from the convention center and get off at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, which by the way, is worth a walk through the lobby! WOW!
