Before I flew home from my recent Washington, DC trip I made a quick stop at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum’s special hangar located adjacent to Dulles Airport. This amazing facility is home to an incredible assortment of historic airplanes including the SR-71, Concorde, Enola Gay, and the Space Shuttle Enterprise.
It’s hard not to feel moved and patriotic when you are surrounded by incredible feats of aviation history everywhere you look. It was especially emotional for me to see the Space Shuttle Enterprise as I wanted to be an astronaut as a kid, not to mention that the very next day was the final launch of a Space Shuttle, as this program is being shut down.
If you ever find yourself in the Washington, DC area, I definitely suggest stopping by America’s Hangar and seeing these amazing aircraft for yourself.
